Post-Harvest Technician

Brief Description:

Work with cultivation staff to efficiently trim harvested cannabis plants while creating minimal waste, resulting in a high-quality product that is compliant and ready for sale or processing.Work indoors to trim, weigh, sort, label and package medical cannabis products according to very specific regulations.

The role:

  • Post-harvest technicians are responsible for the post-harvest handling of all cannabis products.
  • Duties performed include the trimming, weighing, packaging, and labeling of all products from our facility.
  • The Post Harvest Technician reports directly to Director of Operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Trim flower from plants in a quick and efficient manner, while ensuring a quality product.
  • Trim flower by hand and/or using trimming, sorting and packaging equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Sit and stand for long periods of time while focusing on detail-oriented trimming, as well as post trim upkeep.
  • Track the amount of unusable waste for each plant/batch, in addition to usable by-products.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with weights, measurements, and math.
  • Maintain open communication with management team and co-workers.
  • Follow all SOPs, verbal directives, training information and policies when performing duties.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or team lead.
  • Weighing, measuring, sorting, labeling, and packaging cannabis products such as edibles, oil cartridges, lotions, roll-ons, topicals, tinctures, capsules, concentrates, flower, and pre-rolls for medical sale.
  • Create and apply labeling in accordance with product information, testing results, and other required information.
  • Maintain forms and database to precisely record weight, product count, and any relevant issues for all products.
  • Assemble, line, and pad boxes and shipping containers for finished product storage and transportation.
  • Accurately measure, weigh, and place/scoop products into containers, using hand tools and equipment.
  • Thoroughly clean equipment, hand tools, containers, materials, supplies, and work areas, using cleaning solutions in accordance with the relevant SOPs.
  • Responsible for operating a variety of automated sorting, batching, and packaging machinery.
  • Maintaining quality control by visually inspecting cannabis products and packaging to ensure consistency in product standards; ensuring labeling and product counts are accurate.
  • Inventory of cannabis products upon receipt and distribution to and from the department.
  • Assisting in the loading, unloading, and inventory of cannabis packaging, supplies and materials.
  • Adhering to production schedules.
  • Weighing and processing waste material in accordance with state regulations and company policies and procedures
  • Cleaning and sanitizing packaging areas
  • Preform daily, weekly, and monthly audits of packaging supplies when directed by supervisor.
  • Effectively communicate any issues or constructive criticism with product packaging directly manager.
  • Maintain open communication with management team and co-workers.
  • Follow all SOPs, verbal directives, training information and policies when performing duties.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or team lead.

Qualifications

  • Basic weights and measurement skills and ability to operate a scale.
  • Must have the ability to focus on a task for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time during shift.
  • Fine motor skills and ability to use hands and fingers to precisely and accurately fill, package, and label products
  • Close visual acuity in order to read fine print on product labels and equipment screens

Working Conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform reaching, grasping, bending, stooping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time while maintaining focus.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and balance up to 50 pounds AND must be able to do so with extreme care and caution when working with the product.

Requirements

  • Must pass any and all required background checks.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must obtain Work Permit from the Mississippi Department of Health and submit personal information for background check.
